Marae-Based Aspirations Fund

Tahua Mana Māori

The Tahua Mana Māori fund recognises the important place marae hold within our hapori, supporting Papatipu Rūnaka and Mātāwaka marae to advance their priorities, aspirations and community wellbeing.

The fund is anchored to support marae-based aspirations through a rangatiratanga and relationship strong pathway process, enabling Marae to determine what kaupapa and priorities the funding will support.

A total of up to $325,000 per annum will be provided and will be approved by the Board annually as part of the grants budget approval process.

The total fund will be allocated as follows:

  • Papatipu Rūnuka = $50,000 per rūnaka
  • Mātāwaka marae = $25,000 per marae

Participation does not prevent Papatipu Rūnaka or Mātāwaka Marae from applying through the Trusts’s other funding pathways where these align with your aspirations and priorities.

Can you apply?

The fund is available to the Four Papatipu Rūnaka:

How to apply

We will work alongside Papatipu Rūnaka and Mātāwaka Marae throughout the funding year to establish a He Tono. The Tono will work as a release of funding process and wānanga will serve as a learning conversation.

The Trust will carry the administrative heavy lifting of the application process.
