In Southland, one group is making a real difference for rangatahi who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Genderqueer, MVPFAFF+, Takatāpui and their allies: Number 10 SYOSS’s Everyone for Equality - E14E.

Held every Thursday from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Number 10 Southland Youth One Stop Shop (SYOSS), E14E is more than just a social group, it’s a safe, welcoming space where young people between 10 – 20 years can connect, share experiences, and celebrate who they are.

Whether they’re questioning, exploring their identity, or have already come out, E14E embraces everyone under the rainbow umbrella with a simple, yet powerful philosophy “All brains, all bodies.” It’s about acceptance, respect, and creating a community where diversity is celebrated, not just tolerated. E14E is member-led, providing young people with leadership opportunities.

Rainbow youth often face unique challenges, from isolation to discrimination. Having a safe space to belong can be life changing. Providing that space, E14E is supported by the wrap-around services offered at Number 10 SYOSS.

From humble beginnings in 2008, Number 10 SYOSS has grown into a trusted hub for Southland youth, offering clinical and social services that are strengths-based and youth-focused.

Over the past 17 years, more than 10,500 young people have registered to access Number 10's services. Today, the organisation employs 15 staff and contracts one GPs and a counsellor, ensuring rangatahi have access to holistic support.

Community Trust South is proud to support Number 10 SYOSS and the initiatives it coordinates like E14E. By investing in safe spaces and inclusive programs, the Trust helps to play a part in ensuring every young person in Southland feels valued and supported.

At the Trust we’re excited to celebrate Number 10's E14E and the incredible young people who make it vibrant. It’s through partnerships like these that the Trust can help create lasting, positive change - one safe, supportive space at a time.
