We were approached to help save the golf club from losing their land. They were paying an annual lease which was beyond them. A compromise was reached with a grant and a loan. Within six years the club had repaid the loan and secured the land.
"We get people coming off the cruise boats that are here just to pay golf. It’s one of the most southern golf courses in the world.
The way we set the golf club up now as a result of the Community Trust’s involvement means that it can never be sold as residential sites - the rest of the golf club has to remain as parkland."
