Clematis Cottage has been restored to its former glory and has been established as the Mataura Museum. The cottage brings to life the rich social and industrial history of Mataura and tells stories using visual and audio displays and touch screens. We supported this award-winning heritage facility with a grant of over $50,000.
“We had the financial support to reinvent the Mataura Museum in an imaginative way that leads best practice for small volunteer museums. The end result saw us jointly win the 2015 Best Museum Project at the New Zealand Museum Awards. Our volunteers work passionately to share Mataura’s heritage - we serve as the community’s memory.”
