Innovation is risky and takes courage. It doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will. Community Trust South invested over $200,000 into this pilot project. There were significant positive impacts for those who took part in the programme and important learnings about the challenges of pioneering a new way of working that was immersed in whānau and community.
“In 2011 a group of Southland innovators and professionals got together to come up with ways to break cycles of disadvantage and alter the trajectory of vulnerable babies within the Southland community by investing in early intervention in their first 1000 days. Community Trust South backed this concept from its inception in 2013 and were actually the catalyst to starting the 1000 Days journey.”
